Evening Workshop

Block Printing on Fabric

with Sue Wheeler  ·  Thursday 16 July 2026  ·  Dolphin Gallery, Wantage

Print your own designs onto fabric using lino and wood blocks. A hands-on evening for all levels — wine and nibbles included.

What you’ll do

You’ll learn to print with lino and wood blocks onto fabric, working through a range of designs and colours on test pieces before choosing your final item to print. Sue will also show you how to make your own printing blocks at home — so you can keep creating long after the evening is over.

Once you’ve found your feet, you choose what to print onto: a tea towel, apron, tote bag, or t-shirt — all included in the ticket price. Additional items are available to buy on the night, and you’re welcome to bring your own pieces to print onto (napkins, cushion covers, loose fabric, and so on). Natural fabrics only — cotton or linen work best with fabric ink.

Everything you print can be ironed at home afterwards to set the ink permanently and make it washable.

What’s included in your ticket (£45)

  • All materials — inks, lino and wood printing blocks, and everything you need on the night
  • Your choice of one item to print onto: tea towel, apron, tote bag, or t-shirt
  • Wine and nibbles
  • Sue’s guidance on making your own blocks at home to continue the craft

Good to know

  • Suitable for all levels — no previous experience needed
  • What to wear: bring an apron or wear old clothes — fabric ink can stain
  • Places are limited to 10 — book early to secure yours
