Kam Johal

Kam Johal

Born in the Midlands, UK, Kam studied pure Mathematics at University. She moved to London in her early twenties to become a research scientist, carrying out mathematical experiments for GEC Marconi and British Aerospace. Her inquisitive mind led her to then pursue a career in the fast paced world of the Financial City, and for the next fifteen years she worked long hours in a high-octane investment world during the day and developed her creative interests by night.

She continues to conduct experiments but these days they are artistic. Her pieces are abstract and atmospheric, and each is inspired by a particular artist or piece of music. Kam calls herself a lyrical abstract artist, immersing herself in the specific music at full volume throughout the creative process, and the artwork flows to the rhythms and moods she consciously and subconsciously feels. In 2016 she was shortlisted for the Summer Exhibition for the Royal Academy of Art for her piece entitled ‘Space Invaders In January’.
