Bill Pike
water n.
a colourless, odourless liquid
Yet water, particularly a water surface, has so many wonderful effects which are often taken for granted, or not even noticed, by those whose very existence depends on it in everyday life.
On a trip down the Norwegian coast on the Hurtigruten steamer in 1972, Bill took photos of the wakes and the reflections of the scenery in the water. That started off a lifelong passion for painting water. He was a scientific assistant at the Meteorological Office in Abingdon at the time and decided to make the break and go to Art college. He graduated from Maidstone school of art with a BA hons in painting in 1976 and from UBC Vancouver with a Masters in fine art in 1982.
Since then, Bill has painted over 380 pictures of watery reflections and has exhibited widely
Now retired, Bill continues to paint from his home in Berkshire.
