Jane Vaux

Although originally living in Oxfordshire, my love of the sea and coast led me to spend a couple of years in South Devon. I have a huge passion for the sea and the variety of light, textures and colours that are created along the coast. It was this that enabled me to become a professional artist, having a number of successful solo exhibitions (as well as shared ones) withing the Devon and South Hams Art world.

I am now developing more work in Oxfordshire, using the experience I have gained over the last few years. My paintings are contemporary, and as well as realistic depictions, can be abstract, impressionistic or free style. They depict many recognisable and/or evocative scenes.

I work mainly in Acrylics, but am always keen to incorporate other mediums, especially charcoals, and sometimes collage to produce texture. I like to tackle a variety of subject matter and therefore have worked on seascapes, landscapes, cityscapes, architectural views, plants, boats, abstract design, birds and animals to name a few! I have undertaken numerous commissions, which I have enjoyed enormously. My main aim in any painting is to catch the “evocative atmosphere” of a place or subject. I believe that by avoiding “getting caught up in the detail”, light and movement are given a chance to work and shine in my paintings.

My work can be seen in galleries in may areas, updated regularly on my website: www.janevaux.co.uk
