Geoff Lawson is a local artist who moved to Wantage from East Hagbourne in 2018. Raised and educated in Oxfordshire, Geoff studied graphic design at Bristol. On completion of his degree he went to work as a film and sound editor at Richard Taylor Cartoon Films in London before moving to Manchester to work for Cosgrove Hall Productions where he edited programmes such as Danger Mouse, Count Duckula and Wind in the Willows. In the 1990s, Geoff returned to Oxfordshire and opened a gallery space and picture framing studios before training as an art teacher in 2000. He has since taught art to secondary pupils in Thame and Didcot and is currently working at Cokethorpe School in Witney.
Geoff works in a variety of media, exploring textures and composition. Line, shape and form are at the forefront of his thinking and this inspiration can evolve from a multitude of starting points although landscape plays a dominant role.
Lawson has highly varied material palette which includes fabric, leather, wood, plaster, stitch and acrylic paint. This unusual range allows him to explore composition and texture which result in a highly successful and individual style. All Artists
