Anne Gingell

Anne Gingell

Anne Gingell lives and works in Eynsham, Oxfordshire, where she
creates sculptures from steel. Her work is both abstract and figurative,
and pieces range in height from approximately 12 inches to 12 feet.
Educated at Farnham and Central art schools in the late sixties and
early seventies, she absorbed the influence of some of the abstract
attitudes of that era. This cultural context and her own strong personal
vision combine to form these unusual and original pieces of work.
“I am synaesthetic – I feel in shapes, colours and movements.
So sculpture comes directly from my thinking. For me shape
and colour have an emotional content that works alongside
the literal understanding of what is presented. That is what
I am extending towards the viewer. I believe that form, colour
and movement exhibit a universal aesthetic.”
